Muğla Province and the surrounding area is unique for mining engineering students, as it is home to intensive mining activity focusing on natural stones, coal, industrial minerals and metallic minerals. With its extensive natural stones, industrial mineral, chromite and lignite deposits, the area is a natural laboratory for prospective mining engineering students, providing a variety of summer practice, short-term training possibilities, and job opportunities after graduation. Graduates of the department are employed in mines, mineral processing plants, cement factories, metallurgical plants, dam and tunnel construction zones, and mineral exploration facilities. Graduates easily find jobs in private mining companies, cement plants, as well as government organisations and institutions including TKI, TTK, MTA, TPAO, DSI, and BOTAS.
